    Game Builders Academy™ runs a number of different programs at venues across Long Island, and Queens, New York. HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

Location: Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York
Dates:  Session 1: June 30-July 11*
Session 2: July 14-25
Session 3: July 28-August 8
Structure: • Each session runs for 10 days (2 weeks)
• Monday - Friday

Grades 4-5
In the mornings, your child is in the Video Game Development or Robotics program (classroom), and in the afternoons, your child is in a recreation group where they participate in lunch, instructional swim and recreational sports.
Grades 6-8
In the afternoons, your child is in the Video Game Development or Robotics program (classroom), and in the mornings, your child is in a recreation group where they participate in lunch, instructional swim and recreational sports.

Game Builders Academy Starburst Video Game Development Program offers a simplified, modular approach to video game development. Students use and strengthen math skills, problem solving and creative thinking – all in the context of doing something they love – creating video games! Students learn how to create art and animation for their games, and how to incorporate sounds, music, and other multimedia elements into their games. Students create one fully working video game they can share with parents and friends.

Learn about this new program that merges the entertaining and aesthetic interests of video gamers with academic preparation and career development. 90-minute hands-on orientation in the computer lab with 1/2 hour Q&A provides ideal opportunity to understand and experience the value-added benefit of registering for this course! Older Grades 9-12:

This introductory course provides the opportunity to create at least two individualized full-working video games while developing, using, and strengthening math, logic, communication, concentration & critical thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking skills. Learn to create art and animation for games, and incorporate sounds, music, video and other multimedia elements into games.

Sample Game: SUPER HAMBURGER THROWER -->

In this course, students use and strengthen math skills, logic skills, communication skills, concentration and critical thinking skills, problem solving and creative thinking – all in the context of learning how to design and program video games! This course offers students an exciting introduction to the technical and artistic concepts and techniques of designing and programming video games. Students gain a working knowledge of the skills and tools necessary to design and develop video games. Students learn how to use Game Maker software and graphics programs. They are also introduced to the fundamentals of animation for use in their games. Students will create at least two full working video games in this course.

Video Game Development - Level 2

Students who have taken Introduction to Video Game Development continue to build their knowledge of Game Maker, learning and employing more advanced game development techniques. They are also introduced, in a very fun way, to writing computer programming code and the basic math concepts that are used in video game development. Students create at least one multilevel game and a number of software "toys."

We also offer specialized workshops covering various topics of game development, such as creating 3D games, creating your own customized artwork, creating multi-player online games and much more.
